Are you interested in joining the new Imperial Valley Youth Orchestra?  If you are between 4th and 12th grade, you can join this Valley-wide program. We are currently accepting students who play or are interested in orchestral strings, winds, brass, and percussion. Students must continue to be a part of their school's band and orchestra programs in addition to joining the IVYO.  Students without a program at their school are especially encouraged to join. 

Our program consists of the following levels.  These levels are determined by audition with the exception of our Beginning Strings.

Beginning Strings 

This group will consist of beginner and other string students with little to no experience.  All for Strings Method Book 1 is required for this class. This is available at Music and Arts or on Amazon and other online vendors.

 

Philharmonic Orchestra

This group will consist of students with a higher level of ability. It will continue to be a string orchestra group.  No audition is necessary but must have experience playing a string instrument.  All for Strings Method Books 1 and 2 are required for this class.  Plans are to make this a full orchestra in the future.   Books are available from Music and Arts or online at Amazon and other outlets. 

 

Symphony Orchestra

This is a full orchestra and where experienced strings, winds, brass, and percussion participate.  Instrumentation is for all strings, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French Horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, and percussion.  Audition's are required, particularly for string students.  Other instrumentation is allowed based on directors discretion.  All music will be provided.
